Geocaching has now replaced poker!!
Last year everyone was hosting poker parties, but this year apparently geocaching is really catching on. Even people in Hutch, KS are into it! I might be biased, but I think EVERYONE should try it!
Dogs!

Well, since I don't have much else to write about, I thought I'd add some pictures of our dogs. We love them very much...they are our children. Libby is the black & white bassett that is in the photo with Pete. The other bassett is Niki. Pete has had both of them since way before I came into his life. Sally is the black terrier. We adopted her from the SPCA just shortly after we got together. Jack is the little chihuahua looking one. He came from my aunt & uncle's house in Laverne, OK. He's just a little mutt...dad is a chihuahua and his mom is a sheep dog/terrier mix of some sort.
Like I said, we love them very much, but they all have their issues, just like people. Libby can be extremely grouchy and possessive at times. Niki will fight with anyone if she thinks they are going to eat her food or her treat. Sally doesn't like Pete. I am the only one that can get her in to feed her. Jack chews up ANYTHING he can find. We've found some extremely interesting items in the back sunroom (which we not affectionately refer to as the 'dog room' because they have taken over back there). Among the items we've found are a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses that look like they are from the Top Gun era, a nearly destroyed glove, small pieces of siding from our house (which we cannot figure out where he is getting from) and various gourds, sticks and acorns.
Despite their issues, they are a lot of fun. They come in the kitchen when we are cooking dinner, only because they think they will get a piece of scrap that falls on the floor or that Pete actually decides to give them. They are the biggest beggar dogs I've ever seen! Anyway, just thought I'd add some pictures since I have only ever shown you Jack.

Fascinating...

That is the only word I can use to describe the movie Pete & I watched this weekend..."March o
f the Penguins". Not only did I learn something about this amazing bird, but I also learned that no matter how hard our lives may seem, what we are going through is nothing compared to what the adult Emperor pengiun must face. I highly recommend this rental. We went to the video store with the intention of renting "Wedding Crashers" but they were all out, so we came home with "Penguins" instead. I am actually glad everyone else wanted "Crashers"! Tuesday, January 03, 2006
How I spent my weekend...

A few years ago, Pete found this hobby called Geocaching. He has been wanting to do it ever since, but it requires a GPS, which we didn't have. He talked about it every so often, but nothing ever came of it. I never quite understood what he was talking about, until this weekend. My parents gave us money for Christmas (the best gift). He decided he wanted to use his money to buy a GPS. So, we got one at Wal-Mart when we were doing our grocery shopping on Sunday. Again, he tried to describe "geocaching" to me, but I still didn't quite understand. His description was basically that people leave "caches" all over the world and you use your GPS to find them. He said there are several right here in Enid. So, he typed in a few of the Enid coordinates and off we went to find these "caches". We found several of them very easily and it was very fun. The next day we ventured a little farther away from Enid, but not very far. Two of the coordinates sent us to abandoned graveyards, which was kind of freaky, but still fun. I know there is no way for me to fully describe our new hobby, but we had a good time this past weekend finding these treasures, as I like to call them. We feel like little spies or something! Anyway, here's a picture of me with one of the caches we found yesterday. The cache was an ammo can filled with lots of little trinkets. We decided to take the C3PO toy and left a toy car. That's what you can do if it is a large container, but some of them are so small that all you can do is sign the log that is enclosed (there is a log and a writing utensil in each one we found). We have taken and left a number of items from most of the caches we've found. In my left hand is our little GPS. If you want to see if there are any caches in your area, you can go to www.geocaching.com. It's a fun little game! Yesterday there was someone that signed the log of each cache before we did, on the same day. We never did catch up with them, but it was still neat knowing that someone had been there just before us!
Good definition of Geocaching:
The game of geocaching is like a high-tech treasure hunt that we play using our parks and forests as the gameboard. Someone hides a container full of goodies, publishes the latitude and longitude coordinates on a website, and others try to find it using a handheld GPS receiver. Then
you can take a present from the cache, and leave something else for the next person to find.
