Littering in 2006??

Pete & I were driving home from Oklahoma City on Saturday and were following a white minivan. I was chatting with my sister on my cell phone when something strange happened. The occupants of the minivan threw their entire meal remains out the window, including the Braum's sack, food containers and soda cups. I was utterly appalled that this would happen in 2006 as I had not witnessed anyone littering for quite some time. I wanted to roll my window down and say something to the people as we passed them, but I didn't. I also wanted to stop in the next town and tell the police officer to arrest them, but I didn't. We just went on our merry way back to Enid and did nothing about the people that threw way too much trash out their car window. When I was looking for a picture to post with this, I noticed that the litter act was passed in 1970. I honestly cannot believe there are still people are littering nearly 36 years after America realized how white trash littering was. Apparently the white trash people in their white minivan are still stuck in 1970. Maybe they didn't think that part of Anchorman was funny when they were walking through the park and threw all of their trash on the ground? Perhaps they thought that meant it was open season on littering again? Who knows...
